How to Quit? Read Here!

So after I realized what the effects of smoking can do to my health I started to want to quit smoking. Listen to me now, you have to WANT to quit if you want to be successful! I will give you the list of steps that I took to finally get rid of this horrible addiction.

There are a couple of things I kept in mind before I started. I created a "Quit date" so I can prepare myself before then. I learned that when you stop smoking and you get your first craving that this craving will only last 3 MINUTES! Knowing this made it so much easier for me to quit. Every single time I would crave a cigarette I would start to believe that I would feel this craving all day long. I’m so glad that I learned the truth. But there is a catch... When you get that first craving and you realize that it will only last 3 minutes than you will make it last all day if your not doing anything to take up time. Take some time and play a game, socialize with your friends, start a project! Just do something that will take your mind off smoking because over half the battle is psychological. You are use to you daily routine of having a smoke every 30 mins, so if you distract yourself from that routine then quitting smoking will be easiest goal to achieve!

I have done this method and it works! It has been working for my for 2 months and I have never been happier. I can run longer and not run out of breath. My complexion in my skin is way better! And I don’t feel embarrassed about smelling like smoke when I’m talk to a cute girl.

Just remember:

1.      Create a start date where it will finally make your decision to quit!

2.      Remember that technically your cravings will only last up to 3 minutes. THE REST IS IN YOUR HEAD!

3.      Remove yourself from people that smoke until your addiction is gone. No one want to lose a close friend so just take a break so it will benefit your health.

4.      Replace your old routine with a new one that will fill in the gaps where you would usually go out and have a smoke.

You’re at work and you finally get your 15 min break. So instead of going outside with other employees to have a smoke, stay inside, relax and eat some food. Or find a fun relaxing activity before your shift starts again.

5.      You have to want to quit. If you’re willing to go out of your way to quit smoking than you can do this! If you have friends around you always offering you a smoke than you probably won’t make it.

6.      It will take up to 2 - 3 weeks for your addiction end. Keep that in mind for every day that passes, you are one day closer from being a healthy happy human being.
